Ambulatory Surgery Centers: Significant Growth

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) have been faced with many challenges and obstacles to overcome, from limited procedures and new safety measures to changes in demand for elective surgeries.

However, the pandemic has also shed light on the importance of outpatient care outside of the hospital setting, which is why the ASC industry is expected to see significant growth and changes in the next few years.

According to an article published on Becker’s ASC Review, the following are some of the changes administrators of ASCs are predicting:

  • ASCs becoming more streamlined as well as efficient
  • Improvements in technology that allow for ASCs to provide a better patient experience
  • Increases in staffing due to larger case volumes
  • More procedures moving from the hospital setting to ASCs
