Ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) provide patients with more benefits than just cost savings. In fact, when it comes to having low infection rates, ASCs are consistently outperforming hospitals.
According to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 8.95 per 1,000 patients who had a surgical procedure at a hospital developed a surgical site infection. A similar analysis of data by the Journal of American Medical Association discovered that only 4.84 per 1,000 ASC patients developed a surgical site infection following surgery.
